'BIRD'  Honors Flight
MMHAP Artwork BIRD Honors Flight. The BC Forces of Nature naturally carved mediums are the focus of this artwork. Driftwood from the Stanley Park shores resembling a bird and detailed with Fine Oil Paint sets atop BC Granite that tales us a Bird’s moment of observation high up in our BC Mountains. The artwork elevation descends to a much larger driftwood which has running water falling down many smaller BC Granite pieces into a reservoir of water lined with small shells imitating the Ocean level. The Eight Earth Cardinal Points are honored in BIRD by eight concrete tea-lit candleholders. Each concrete tea-lit candleholder honors as well the eight Earth cardinal points reflected with eight braided Metis Sash ends. There are thousands of braided Metis Sash ends at the base of BIRD in celebration of Mark MiLan’s Canadian Metis culture and community. Electric lights illuminating down towards the floor on both sides of the artwork reflect through the braided Metis Sash ends onto the floor which offer the appearance that the artwork itself has wings and is in flight. Dimensions (H” x W” x D”): 58” X 48” X 33”
